A Semester of Milestones
Welcome to the first issue of my newsletter. This fall has been the busiest and most rewarding stretch of my return to school. I earned my CompTIA A+ certification, which tested everything from hardware and operating systems to networking, security, and troubleshooting procedures. Passing it gave me a credential that employers recognize.
In December I will complete my Associate in Science degree in Computer Information Technology at State College of Florida, and in January I will begin the Bachelor of Applied Science program in Information Systems Technology at Florida SouthWestern State College. The bachelor's program will take me deeper into networking, systems administration, and information security, which are the areas I want to build my career around.
This website is the other big project of the semester. I rebuilt it from scratch with a single external stylesheet, a navigation bar that changes from a vertical menu on a phone to a horizontal menu on a desktop, and a responsive photo gallery. Building every page by hand in a plain text editor taught me how much structure, consistency, and testing go into a page that looks simple.
My Fall 2025 term earned President's List honors, and Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 both earned Dean's List honors. My SCF GPA is 3.83, and my networking, security, and server courses each ended with an A. This fall I am taking Web Page Development, Cybersecurity Analysis, and Linux System Administration.
Tech Tip of the Month: Turn On Multi-Factor Authentication
Most account break-ins start with a stolen or reused password. Multi-factor authentication adds a second check, such as a code from an authenticator app, so a password alone is no longer enough to get in. Turn it on for your email account first, because your email can be used to reset nearly every other password you own.
